Finance, administration division creates Graham Endowed Scholarship

  The university’s Division of Finance and Administration has established the Jerry W. and Jean Graham Endowed Scholarship to honor the retiring vice president of finance and administration after 42 years of service. The criteria for the newly established scholarship have yet to be determined but will benefit Tarleton students and their pursuit of a college education. Full story

Once a student, always a Texan

  On May 12 The Tarleton State University Class of 2012 and their families celebrated the receiving of their diplomas, and starting a new chapter in their lives. This year, Tarleton awarded 1,008 diplomas to graduates including two Honorary Doctorate degrees, 12 Doctoral, 182 Master’s, 805 Bachelor’s degrees and nine Associate’s degrees, in diverse areas of study. Tarleton baseball and softball last homestand

On April 17, Hardin Simmons University faced off against Tarleton State University in baseball, and Texas Women’s University faced off against Tarleton in softball. The baseball team won 3-0 and the softball team lost 8-4. Full story

Spring football game to be held Friday

After an impressive five-game winning streak to end their 2011 season, the Texan football squad has begun preparing for their 2012 season with the start of spring football practices. The Texans have held practices since March 25 and will hold their “Purple and White” spring football game on April 20 at 7:30 p.m. Full story

Randy Rogers ticket giveaway

On Monday, May 14, Randy Rogers will host the “Children’s Advocacy Center of Johnson County Celebrity Golf Tournament.” The tournament will be held in Cleburne, Texas, which is Rogers’ birthplace. After the golf tournament, there will be a concert. The lineup consists of Randy Rogers, Casey Donahew, Deryl Dodd, Austin Allsup, Jamie Wilson, Jason Eady, Bo Phillips, Steve Helms, Ryan Beaver and Sonny Burgess. Full story

President and Vice President swearing-in postponed

The swearing-in of the newly elected Student Body President of Tarleton State University Scott Harrison and Vice President Sami Landers was postponed due to “complaints on the table that have not yet been justified by the election committee,” said previous Student Body President Clint Billingsley.
